The Overly Religious

If there is a group of people that really scare me... its the overly religious.

These group of people usually mingle with other religious people/families. Its slightly scary when you are around them because it feels like they're the borg (I totally used a Star Trek term). It truly does feel like they won't accept you unless you're in their collective. I on the other hand am not too big on the whole "religion" thing, so you can see very quickly how I'm turned off by such people.

I like to keep these group of people at a distance. Its probably for the best, because I sure as hell don't want to go to religious gatherings with them, or hang out with more of these people.

Arguing With An Idiot

Ravi Patel My family and I have been loyal BP customers ever since I can remember. The BPs that we frequent are locally owned and operated... why should they suffer? You can be upset about the oil leak, but boycotting them isn't going to solve anything. BP needs assistance from the industry as a whole to brainstorm and plug the well. The government doesn't know a thing about drilling or plugging wells... the petroleum industry does. Shut up and let them handle it. Even BP wants the leak to stop.

Would you buy hamburger if it had mad cow disease? I didn't think so. I won't use BP as they are directly involved in destroying mother nature. I'm sorry if you think people do not have a voice in this world. Oh, and by the way, I won't shut up.

I totally agree! Dont hurt the locals when it could have massive global consequences. Damaging one major player in our economy could mean jobs lost. If they go bust who will keep putting millions into fixing it?

While everyone is putting blame out there how bout we give some of that to Obama he has done very little to try to come up with a solution to this problem.

Your example is a poor one. What does their gasoline quality have to do with anything? I'm sure that those horrible BP executives were in their office saying, "How can we devastate the environment.
Oh I know...lets knowingly drill into a gas pocket which causes our rig to explode and injure our workers.
Better yet, we better make sure we dump millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico so we can kill those evil dolphins."
If you had a brain... you'd realize every oil company has had a spill at some point. You might as well avoid anything made from oil (plastics especially), or uses oil in any shape or form. Good luck.

BP has more than enough money. They have spent close to 1 Billion to stop the leak *pocket change to them. They just paid their shareholders 10 Billion. They got themselves into this, they surely have the resources to get themselves and more importantly, the ocean wildlife and local businesses in the 4 state coastlines black tar is rolling up on out. I have no problem not supporting their business.

Your idea is overly simplistic. They have "more than enough money." You do realize when companies post huge revenues its not a profit right? They have expenses to pay off before they even get a profit. Its impossible for companies to internalize the clean up costs in a product. Scott, If you feel so passionate about this oil crises how about you go there and assist. You'll do more good there than sitting here on FB at 3am arguing with me. The amount of money that is lost in the four gulf states will look insignificant compared with the revenue drops in the other 46. That is the bigger picture. Imagine how that will affect local and state level tax revenues. I know your state (Illinois) can't afford more budget cuts.

I love how people tell people to stop arguing...like they are not a part of the discussion. I suppose I do have a more idealized viewpoint of the world than most people, which is very simple, as it should be: Renewable resources. But, it really bothers me how people blindly defend a massive company like BP. Oil is incredibiliy profitable, it is practically free for companies such as BP. If I wasn't confined in the fabrics of society, I would leave and help out. I think our viewpoints are completely different. Change isn't easy, especially with the economy...but Oil does not define it.

FB is a social community...surprise, surprise. People become awfully defensive when someone doesn't agree with them (myself included), I'll write and voice any thoughts, ideas, discussions, I deem fit. Don't like it, too bad. Peak oil is almost here, and we'll have to figure out what to do when gas is 10 a gallon, lets start figuring it out now.

Ride a bike, spend time in your local community, preserve the environment...engage in a dialogue with someone, etc, etc.

Justin is on your side and trying to tell you to stop arguing because your running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

You just keep ranting. Your arguing skills are weak. You have yet to make a counter point to anything!

I'm not blindly defending BP. If anything, you are blindly ignoring the implications of what a boycott will do.

The global economy DOES depend on oil. Especially in the United States. We are slaves to it. I don't know where you have been all this time...
